How to use

Candles are beautiful and can elevate senses, but they are also a potential fire hazard if are not carefully monitored.

The three golden rules are:

  • Never leave a burning candle unattended.
  • Never burn a candle on or near anything that might catch fire
  • Keep candles out of the reach of children and pets.

Before lighting

  • Always trim the wick to ¼ inch before lighting or once your candle has cooled. You can use nail clippers, scissors, or our wick trimmer (coming soon). Trimming wicks will help prolonge the life of your candle and prevent a potential fire hazard.
  • Keep the wick centered.
  • Remove the trimmed wick from the jar. It is important to keep the wax pool clear of wicks trimmings and matches.
  • Place the candle on a protected, fire-resistant surface.

While burning

  • Never leave a burning candle unattended. Never burn a candle as a night light or when you may fall asleep.
  • Keep candles out of reach of children and pets.
  • Never burn a candle on or near anything that can catch fire. Avoid drafts and excessive vibrations.
  • Do not burn a candle for more than 4 hours.
  • Never put the lid on the jar while burning the candle.
  • Allow the wax to melt to the edges of the jar to prevent tunneling. Especially the first time you burn your candle.
  • Never touch or move a candle while it is burning or when the wax is liquified.
  • Discontinue burning a candle when ½ inch remains in the container.
  • Avoid having other candles near the burning candle.
  • Extinguish a candle if the flame becomes too high or flickers repeatedly. If that happens, let the candle cool, trim the wick, remove unwanted drafts before re-lighting.
  • Never use candles during a power outage. Have flashlights and battery-powered lighting ready to use during a power outage. Never use candles.

Extinguishing a candle

  • Never use water to extinguish a candle.
  • Do not touch the candle until it has completely cooled.
  • Always make sure the candle is completely out and the wick is no longer glowing.
