I surprised my husband with the Pumarosa Candle Experience for our anniversary, and it ended up being one of those nights we'll talk about for years. We're always looking for something different to do instead of the usual dinner-and-a-movie routine, and this totally delivered.

Vanessa and Jon made us feel like we were hanging out with friends who just happen to be candle experts. Jon's storytelling at the beginning was unexpectedly immersive he took us through the history of candles with this meditation that actually got me relaxed and present. Then Vanessa shared her story about starting Pumarosa, and you could feel how much heart she's put into this business, honoring her mom and her time in Venezuela under a Pumarosa tree, where those cherished memories began.

The hands-on part was so fun. Smelling all the different scents and trying to pick just three was tough because they're all really, really good. My husband and I chose completely different combinations, which made sense for our personalities. Pouring the wax and getting the technique right felt like a little accomplishment, and now we have these custom candles that we actually made ourselves.

I went back two weeks later to pick them up (you can also have them shipped), and of course I grabbed a few more. Vanilla, Cashmere, and Eucalyptus are my go-tos now.

Whether you're celebrating something or just want to try something new and creative, I can't recommend this enough. It's thoughtful, hands-on, and honestly just a really nice way to spend an evening.
